A Maryland grandmother has accused an older white woman of harassing and weaponizing police against her granddaughter and friends.

Back in July, CamilleGenX posted a concerning video on TikTok that amassed 1.4 million views and continues to circulate online.

The footage shows her teenage granddaughter and friend sitting in a grassy area in an Owings Mills planned community, where another friend lived. Developers are rapidly building master-planned residential subdivisions across Owings Mills, an unincorporated community about 30 minutes outside Baltimore. Most of the new neighborhoods are ungated and open access.

‘It’s Private Property, Ladies’

According to the caption, the girls were enjoying a picnic in front of a lake when an unidentified white woman suddenly descended on them and tried to boot them out. It’s not clear whether the woman was an HOA representative or just a nosy “Karen,” as many commenters believe.

“It’s private property, ladies. Can you tell me where you live?” the woman asked. The girls looked shocked and didn’t immediately respond. The woman went on: “You have to go. It’s private property, and I’ve had two complaints. So, you can go, or I can call 911.”

She demanded to know where they parked, and told them she would wait there, hovering, until they packed up their belongings and left.

According to the caption, the woman made good on her threat and called the police over what CamilleGenX claimed were false complaints.

The grandmother described the location as a place where many people converge to walk their dogs, enjoy the outdoors, or simply relax. “Out of everyone there, ‘Karen’ chose to harass only them while ignoring everyone else.”

‘Unnecessary 911 Calls’

She said the police arrived but didn’t take the complaint seriously. She wrote: “The woman eventually stomped around, walked back to her car, and drove away.”

Hundreds of commenters piled on, outraged by the woman’s attempt to police the teens and abuse emergency services when that failed.

“When are they going to start charging people for unnecessary 911 calls?” demanded one TikTok commenter.

The backlash raises a real legal question. Most jurisdictions criminalize intentionally calling 911 for a non-emergency or to harass someone. Whether a person is reprimanded or charged depends on what they tell dispatchers.

For instance, if the woman knowingly fabricated a threat or gave a false statement to police, she could be charged with a misdemeanor under Maryland law, which carries up to 6 months in jail and a $500 fine.

Many others accused the woman of racial profiling, with one describing her attitude as an “overseerer mentality.”

“Stop answering these people’s questions!” read a top comment on “uniportland’s” TikTok, which recently reshared the video. Another chimed in: “Exactly, silence is the best…language with these entitled POS.”

As of publication, CamilleGenX’s video continues to gain traction, and it’s unclear whether the unidentified woman has faced any consequences for the incident.
