‘Pretty Low IQ’: Trump Goes Off the Rails in Rant About His Former Allies — But His Attempt at a Brutal Insult Only Puts Him to Shame
Another late-night social media attack from President Donald Trump last week turned one of his favorite political weapons back on himself.
After years of boasting about his cognitive test scores, Trump suggested conservative broadcaster Tucker Carlson should take one, declaring his former ally a “very Low I.Q. individual” before unleashing a sprawling attack on outgoing Rep. Thomas Massie and former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
The rant came after the former Trump allies met publicly and signaled that a new political movement could be taking shape outside the president’s control. Trump responded by calling all three “LOSERS” for abandoning his agenda and portraying Carlson as unintelligent — even as Trump has repeatedly confused his cognitive exams with tests that measure IQ.
Trump’s nearly 300-word Truth Social post Friday night appeared to target a gathering that Greene had highlighted earlier this month. She posted a photo of herself with Carlson, Massie and former counterterrorism official Joe Kent and wrote that Trump had betrayed his promise for no more foreign wars.
Trump Posts Lengthy Rant
“We said no more foreign wars, and we meant it and supported Donald Trump because he made that promise. But he’s betrayed us all,” Greene wrote. “Our commitment is America First for all Americans, right, left, and center. The movement has begun.”
Trump responded by attacking the trio one by one.
“Tucker Carlson just met with Lightweight ‘Former’ Congressman, Thomas Massie, and Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Greene, LOSERS ALL! Tucker’s ‘Views’ have fallen through the floor, and will only get worse. Nobody cares about him any longer in that he has become totally irrelevant, and happens to be, surprisingly, a very Low I.Q. individual.”
“He could barely get out of College, and maybe he didn’t, but only really dumb people can’t make it through that wonderful four-year time in life! Tucker wants to run for political office, but he should be required to take a cognitive test. He’s got no chance, but could probably take a couple of points away from whatever the Republican ticket happens to be! Tucker is a loser, and always has been!”
Trump then mocked Greene and Massie, referring to Greene as “Marjorie Taylor Brown” and accusing her of abandoning conservative principles after he withdrew his endorsement. He called Massie a “failed politician” and “a real JERK,” criticizing the Kentucky Republican for repeatedly voting against legislation Trump supported.
“What a team this would be, THREE LOSERS, and a pocketful of change!” Trump wrote. “The only chance they have is to join the Radical Left Dumocrats, and try breaking into the Primary System. To all of them I say, PRAISE BE TO ALLAH!”
Greene Responses to Trump
Greene quickly pushed back, suggesting a South Carolina rally heckler who called Trump a traitor and his sinking poll numbers may have fueled his anger.
“I wonder if it was being called a traitor at his own rally yesterday that caused him to dictate his lies and insult-laden attack on Tucker, Thomas, and I, while he flew back on the plane. It’s also the bad polling that I’m sure he’s seen by now,” Greene said.
She accused Trump of abandoning the principles that once defined their political alliance, arguing that she and Massie had remained committed to conservative and America-first positions while Trump had changed course.
“We never changed, Trump did.”

Greene also defended her relationship with Carlson, portraying him as a potential presidential contender with a strong following among younger Americans. She said she and Massie had opposed foreign wars and worked with Democrats to release the Epstein files, a fight that put them at odds with Trump.
Her broader criticism was blunt: “But the most important thing I can tell you about us is that we are devoted Christians and Trump is not a Christian at all.”
Greene said Carlson and Massie had prayed with her, while accusing Trump of never doing so.
Massie Responds to Trump
Massie offered his own explanation for the president’s attack, pointing to several issues he said were going badly for Trump.
“Trump’s getting roasted today for his disastrous beef policy, the debt hit $40 trillion because of his ‘big beautiful bill,’ he stepped-in-it in Iran, and he’s weeks away from failing his mid-terms in November. He posted this because we are the three he should have listened to,” he wrote on X.
The feud with Massie has been building for years. Trump previously called him a “third-rate Grandstander” after Massie blocked a COVID-19 relief bill, with the president later backing a primary challenger against him. Massie also opposed Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” and pushed for the release of the Epstein files.
Breakdown of Carlson and Trump Feud
Carlson’s break with Trump has followed a similar path. Once a prominent Trump supporter who campaigned with him in 2024, Carlson has increasingly criticized the president over the war in Iran and other foreign-policy decisions.
In April, Carlson said he was “tormented” by his support for Trump and acknowledged that he helped return the president to power.
“You and I and everyone else who supported him – you wrote speeches for him, I campaigned for him – I mean, we’re implicated in this for sure,” Carlson said, according to the Guardian. “It’s not enough to say, ‘Well, I changed my mind’ – or like, ‘Oh, this is bad – I’m out.’”
He added: “In very small ways, but in real ways, you and me and millions of people like us are the reason this is happening right now.”
Trump’s decision to again invoke cognitive testing against a political foe also drew attention because of his repeated claims about his own scores. Trump has said he “aced” the tests and has described a perfect score as evidence of “extreme intelligence.”
But doctors use the Montreal Cognitive Assessment to screen for cognitive impairment, not to measure IQ. They generally consider scores from 26 to 30 normal.
That distinction didn’t escape people reacting online.
“Still a thorn in his side. Like a splinter in his mind, driving him mad,” one commenter wrote on X.
Another person on Threads asked, “How would a low IQ person determine that another person is low IQ? Is there a low IQ Association?”
“I’d challenge a cog test live on TV. Trump wouldn’t pass the first question,” someone else added.
And one reaction summed up the irony:
“That’s some pretty low IQ sounding rant.”
