‘Nobody Getting Hurt In Here’: Busta Rhymes Takes a Stand After Police Get Physical with Man In Audience, Bringing Set to a Halt
Busta Rhymes abruptly stopped his performance after appearing to spot police officers getting physical with a man in the crowd.
The moment unfolded while Busta was performing “Pass The Courvoisier Part II” at the Markham Fairgrounds at Kaya Fest in Toronto.
A video circulating online shows the rapper in a red tracksuit pausing the performance after noticing what he described as excessive force being used against a concertgoer.
“Yo, stop with the aggression. Officer, stop with the aggression, yo.” Busta told the officer. He then explained that he believed the man had not done anything to warrant the treatment he was receiving.
“The n—ga ain’t mean no harm. You grabbing him up and all types of s—t. I saw the whole s—t,” Busta said.
The rapper urged the officer to allow security and event staff to make room if necessary rather than continuing to physically confront the attendee.
“If they gotta make room, they can make room. But all that extra police beating people up, that s—t’s corny,” he said. “We don’t respect that. Don’t do that.”
Busta also appeared concerned that the confrontation could disrupt the atmosphere of the performance, repeatedly asking the officer to calm down.
“Ain’t nobody here for that. Ain’t nobody getting hurt in here tonight. Relax,” he said.
At one point, Busta referenced his own experience arriving in Canada, saying he was grateful to have been allowed through the border and did not want anything to interfere with the concert.
“They could’ve fronted on me getting through the border. I’m grateful. Don’t f—k this up. Not on my set. Not on nobody else’s set. Chill, bro,” Busta urged.
Once the confrontation appeared to settle, Busta returned to the performance. He restarted the song before turning back to the audience and delivering one of his iconic lines: “Don’t this s—t make a n—ga wanna jump?”

The footage quickly spread across social media, where viewers praised the longtime rapper for stopping his show instead of ignoring what was happening in front of him.
“The lyrics hit wayyy harder after that,” one person commented. Another wrote, “Tell’em Bus!!!” A third supporter added, “Straight like that buss!!!!”
The incident adds another unexpected chapter to Busta Rhymes’ long history of interacting directly with people in his audience.
While the “Break Ya Neck” rapper has previously confronted concertgoers over behavior he felt crossed a line, this time his attention turned toward police conduct involving someone in the crowd. The circumstances that led to the confrontation, including what prompted police to approach, were not clear. Busta Rhymes has not spoken about the incident since.
Busta Rhymes has a history of making it clear when he believes a concertgoer has crossed a line, but his latest confrontation put the longtime rapper in a different position. Instead of directing his frustration at a fan, Busta stopped his performance after appearing to believe police were using unnecessary force against someone in the audience.
In 2022, Busta halted a Cincinnati performance after a woman reached toward him while he was performing.
He pushed her hand away, stopped the music and told her to back up. He also confronted the man who accompanied her, questioning why he allowed her to approach him that way.
The incident divided viewers, with some saying Busta embarrassed the woman while others defended his decision to establish a boundary.
His frustration with audiences surfaced again at the 2024 Essence Festival in New Orleans. During his set, Busta became upset with concertgoers who remained seated and used their phones instead of engaging with the performance.
“A-yo, f—k them camera phones, too. Let’s get back to interacting like humans,” he told the crowd, later warning, “I will put every one of y’all out until y’all a—es is up.”

Then, in December 2025, Busta confronted a young streamer for joking that he resembled comedian Tracy Morgan.
The rapper immediately objected to the prank and told the content creator, “You don’t play with a grown man, little boy.” He also demanded that the camera be put down and questioned why the streamer thought the joke was appropriate.
That encounter also produced mixed reactions. Some viewers believed the streamer had deliberately provoked Busta and deserved the dressing-down, while others thought the rapper had overreacted to what was ultimately a joke.
