‘My Kid Is Right Here!’: Disturbing Video Captures Moment Black Father’s Pleas Go Unheard as LA Cops Arrest Him in Front of Frightened Daughter
A video showing the arrest of a Black man in Los Angeles has sparked concern online, particularly over the presence of a young girl who watched the encounter unfold just feet away.
A passerby, on the way home from work, recorded the footage. The video does not identify the man who was arrested or explain what led officers to detain him.
The clip shows two white police officers forcing the Black man to the ground as he repeatedly asks, “What did I do?”

One officer tells him, “You’re being detained, put your hands out in front of you.” The man appears unable to move as one officer kneels on his legs while the other holds him against the ground.
The man continues asking why officers are detaining him, but the officer does not provide an explanation in the footage. Instead, he repeatedly tells the man to place his hands in front of him.

A Fearful Little Girl
What drew even more attention, however, was the little girl standing nearby. She watches the arrest from only a few feet away, appearing visibly frightened as the officers restrain the man. At one point, the man appears to tell officers, “Let go, my kid is right here.”
The girl does not appear to speak or cry throughout the video. Instead, she stands silently watching the encounter.
A Black woman eventually approaches the child and tries to move her away from the arrest. “Mama, can you come here?” the woman can be heard saying as she reaches toward the girl.
The original poster, identified as bvxm452026, emphasized that the child’s reaction left the deepest impression.
“What really broke my heart was seeing a little girl who looked so scared that she didn’t even dare to cry,” the person wrote.
The witness expressed hope for the safety of everyone involved, wishing particularly that the event wouldn’t leave a lasting traumatic impact on the young girl.
Because the original post does not identify the man or explain why officers detained him, the circumstances surrounding the arrest remain unclear.
‘I Feel so Bad’
Social media users quickly jumped into the comments, with many focusing on the young girl’s reaction as she watched the arrest unfold.
“She’s going to remember this forever.”
Another commenter wrote, “I feel so bad for the precious little girl.”
Some users connected the incident to broader concerns about the experiences of Black children, with one writing, “The amount of trauma Black kids experience should be studied.”
Another commenter questioned whether race influenced the officers’ actions, writing, “They would not do this to a white man in front of his child.”
Others focused on the officers’ handling of the detention. One commenter asked, “Are the cops not obligated to tell you why you are being detained?”
Another user offered a different perspective, writing, “Although he was semi-wrong because the POLICE DO NOT have to tell you what you did immediately. They were wrong because they escalated in front of a child.”
Atlanta Black Star reached out to the Los Angeles Police Department for comment and is awaiting a response.
