Elon Musk PAC Spent $800K On Republican Candidates [Op-Ed]

I regret to inform you that the world’s richest man and all-around weirdo Elon Musk has entered the midterms, as his PAC revealed $800,000 in spending on several key Senate races.
CBS News reports that Musk’s America PAC disclosed on Wednesday that the money went to races in Texas ($247,595), Maine ($170,224.29), Ohio ($105,675), New Hampshire ($91,458.50), Iowa ($54,600), Michigan ($25,605) and Alaska ($17,235).
House Speaker Mike Johnson confirmed that he met with Musk while campaigning in Texas, but declined to go into detail on what they discussed.
“He’s made public a lot of what he’s doing. I’m going to talk about our conversation on that point, but we’re gonna win the midterms,” Johnson said.
According to CNBC, Musk has authorized up to $120 million in spending through his America PAC. Homie could spend that money on actual solutions to the problems facing America and the world, but nope! He’s gotta make sure the worst people stay in charge so he can keep getting those tax breaks.
Musk is no stranger to American politics, having briefly worked in the Trump administration last year overseeing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). His tenure with DOGE was filled with controversy and destabilized the federal government. His time in the Trump administration ended with Musk engaged in a social media war with President Donald Trump, where he accused Trump of being in the Epstein files, which wasn’t a surprise to literally anyone.
As a result of the widespread backlash he received over DOGE, Musk said he would withdraw from American politics.
“I think in terms of political spending, I’m going to do a lot less in the future,” Musk said in an interview last year. Would’ve been real nice if that wasn’t a lie because I’m so tired of having to acknowledge that man’s existence.
America PAC reported spending over $207,000 on digital ads in Texas, Michigan, New Hampshire, and Maine. While most of the ads are general reminders to vote, one ad features New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani because it wouldn’t be an Elon endeavor without a dash of fearmongering and xenophobia.
“You couldn’t vote in his election, and socialism declared victory over America’s biggest city. If you don’t vote in November, socialism could declare victory over America,” it read.
A good chunk of America PAC’s spending has been focused on the Texas Senate race between Democrat James Talarico and Republican Ken Paxton. Paxton has continually struggled to keep up with Talarico in fundraising, with Talarico’s campaign having spent $25 million on advertising compared to Paxton’s $115,000.
I just find it deeply hilarious that Trump may have endangered a solidly Republican seat by backing Paxton over Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), the incumbent who was noted for his ability to fundraise.
You know, given the Republican Party’s feelings on immigrants, it’s crazy that they’re OK with an alleged drug addict who wasn’t even born here spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to sway our elections.
