‘We Have a Date Summoned By My Family’: Porsha Williams Shares She Now Has a Wedding Date Set Following Viral Interview
Porsha Williams revealed while attending the “People’s Choice Awards” on Dec. 7 that she and her fiancé, Simon Guobadia, officially have a wedding date, thanks to her family.
This announcement comes a week after the 40-year-old shared in a now-viral video of her guest appearance on “The Tamron Hall Show” that the couple didn’t have a specific date because of their busy schedules. She also disclosed that the two recently bought a home together.
Williams, who was nominated alongside the entire cast of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” for Reality Show of 2021, told “EXTRA” in a red carpet interview released a day following the ceremony that her family forced her to pick a wedding date after the viral video.
She said, “I did not [have a date], and everything kind of blew up online. My grandmother, of all people, got word. She was like, ‘That man wants to marry you, what you going to do?’ She, my mom, and my Aunt Darlene sat me down like an intervention, and they literally gave me a date. So we now have a date, summoned by my family.”
When Williams was asked the exact date of the wedding, she stated that she wouldn’t share that information with the public just yet.
Regarding who she may be inviting to the upcoming nuptials, the reality star claimed she hadn’t even thought about that.

“I haven’t even thought about the guest list.” She explained in great detail why creating a guest list is the “hardest part” when planning a wedding. “Doing a guest list is probably the hardest part about putting your wedding together. I’m all about good vibes. I’m all about real love and support. So whomever is there will definitely be someone from my inner circle.”
As Williams’ announcement began circulating on social media, many accused the star of lying about setting an actual date.
“Porsha be telling so many lies. She trying to believe em too.”
“Girl bye you lying.”
“She lying lol it’s easy to blame it on the family.”
“The lies, the lies, the lies.”
Among the lying remarks, a couple of people claimed the reason why Williams didn’t set a date was because she may not want to marry Guobadia. One wrote, “She didn’t have a wedding date because she doesn’t want to married Simon.” Another said, “That girl don’t wanna marry him but the way y’all did her online….. She’s probably embarrassed and now she feels stuck.”
Williams confirmed her relationship with Guobadia in May after the pair was photographed with her ex Dennis McKinley during Mother’s Day. Guobadia later followed suit and announced he and Williams were engaged.
The couple’s relationship ultimately caused a social media frenzy because of their dating timeline and Williams’ alleged former friendship with Guobadia’s ex-wife, Falynn Pina. Pina and Guobadia first made their appearance on “RHOA” as a married couple last season. Pina and Guobadia ultimately finalized their divorce in July.
