President Donald Trump looked like the odd man out during a weekend visit to one of his golf clubs.
The father of five held a family sit-down surrounded by paying members. Yet a few immediate relatives were noticeably missing from the table.
Trump rarely appears with his wife or children, making his latest outing with an unlikely duo stand out.
Footage taken this weekend shows the president seated next to his eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
The pair sat on the outdoor dining patio with an unexpected guest sitting across the table.
Melania was nowhere to be found in the frame. But her father, Viktor Knavs, was very much present at the table.
Knavs and Trump are only two years apart in age, which may be why they’re spotted together more often than Trump is seen with his own wife.
The father-in-law sits to his right, eyes down on his phone, leaving people to wonder why Trump seems closer to her father than to first lady.
When the video hit social media, many people weighed in.
“Was the Melania’s dad at DJT’s table?” asked one person. Another confirmed, “I think that’s Melania’s father at the table with him and Ivanka. Bizarre on so many levels.”

The bizarre seating arrangement also raised questions as one person asked, “How come no one is sitting with him and his daughter. And where is his wife who is never with him anymore. Pitiful!”
Many wondered, “Where’s Melania? Haven’t seen her in weeks,” one person tweeted. Another joked, “President Trump seems very happy for someone’s wife who’s missing.”
Trump and Knavs being together is not necessarily unusual.
The two men have been spotted together before, including during presidential travel, and their relationship has another curious wrinkle. They are practically contemporaries who could have gone to elementary school together had they been born in the same country.
That becomes even more striking against the Trump marriage math. Melania, 56, is roughly 24 years younger than her husband. Their age became more noticeable last Christmas when Melania appeared more interested in a conversation with her father over her husband.
Even then, Trump sat on the other side of the table like a lonely child pouting, while Melania sat close to her dad.

The former model’s absence was particularly noticeable because she had already been keeping a dramatically lower public profile.
Melania made 38 public appearances between January and June but has not made a public appearance in August.
Other familiar faces from Trump’s orbit also appeared at the gathering, where the first lady was not. Alina Habba, Trump’s former attorney and one-time nominee for U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey, was among those nearby.
Others remained fixated on Melania.
Even the soundtrack became part of the spectacle as music pumped through the gathering and Trump appeared to move along to “YMCA,” the Village People song that has become virtually inseparable from his rallies and public appearances.
Though most agreed, “This is so pathetically painful to watch.”
But behind the jokes is a family dynamic that has increasingly fascinated Trump’s critics.
Former White House communications director recently claimed Trump and Melania have “probably grown apart” following months of chatter the two live completely separate lives in different homes.
And Trump’s actions in Bedminster provided the internet with plenty to study and fodder for the contract conversation.
His daughter was there. His father-in-law was there. Habba and other supporters were nearby. The music was blasting, and Trump was moving along.
But once again, the woman whose father was sitting beside Trump was nowhere to be found. Her absence left everyone asking the same familiar question: Where is Melania?
The scene gave social media plenty to dissect: Trump sat with his daughter and his wife’s father while Melania remained out of frame.
For viewers already fascinated by the Trump family’s unusual public dynamics, the Bedminster gathering offered another curious glimpse.
