‘Sweet of Him’: Karl-Anthony Towns Surprises Girlfriend Jordyn Woods with Gifts to Comfort Her as She Reflects on Her Late Father’s Birthday
The month of February is tough for socialite Jordyn Woods, as it is the month of her late father John Woods’ birthday.
“It’s my dad’s birthday, so it’s kind of a rough day for us,” said Jordyn in an Instagram Live. Jordyn looked kind of down, but the 23-year-old’s boyfriend, Karl-Anthony Towns, a center for the Minnesota Timberwolves, wanted to do something special for Jordyn when she got home to honor Woods’ Feb. 27 birthday.
“This is what I come home to. At this point, I don’t even know what to say,” said Jordyn. The “something special” was a mountain of gifts for Jordyn that consisted of Nike gear, roses and a personal letter to commemorate her father.
Fans gushed over the thoughtful gesture from Towns, 25, for wanting to comfort his girlfriend on this rough day.
“They’re so cute , so happy for her.”
“I love that she found this happiness!!! .”
“Issa Husband.”
“Hopefully, that helped brighten her day. That was sweet of him.”
“He is doing right by her, and I love it!!”
“Both of them lost a parent. I’m glad that they can help each other with the pain beyond the gifts.”
The model also posted another surprise from her boyfriend. In the video, a man reads a poem to her about fatherhood. Jordyn captioned the post, “today my dad would’ve been 61 thank you for thinking of me always in the sweetest ways @karltowns ! Happy Birthday Daddy .”
Woods passed away in January 2017 — two weeks after receiving a cancer diagnosis, according to Jordyn.
“Last night, heaven Got Another angel. My Daddy. Just two short weeks ago he was diagnosed with cancer, and by that time it was too late,” Jordyn wrote as the caption for an Instagram post of her father on Jan. 19, 2017. “I appreciate everyone’s kind words and it means the world to me. It still doesn’t feel real. Forever and Always .”
Towns lost his mother, Jacqueline Towns, in April 2020 due to complications from COVID-19. Several other of Towns’ family members have passed away from the virus, so he knows all too well what it’s like to lose a loved one.
“Praying for you, babe,” Jordyn wrote to her boyfriend on Jan. 15 after he posted that he tested positive for COVID-19. “I know you’re going to pull through. God’s got you, and so does your most powerful guardian Angel up there. You’re one of the strongest people I know. Please send some prayers up,” she added.
It’s good to see that Towns and Woods have each other to lean on during troubling times.
