‘Somebody’s Fine A– Mama!’ Monica Shuts Down Beverly Hills In Vintage Chanel, Fans React
Monica is giving the ladies a run for their money on the ‘Gram, showing out in the latest, drippiest fashions.
On Tuesday, March 15, the “Still Standing” singer dropped a series of photos of herself wearing an all-black look with a vintage Chanel belt around her waist. Monica can be seen posing in a long-sleeved shirt from the brand Vetements, leggings and over-the-knee boots with a heel. She tagged Beverly Hills, California, as the location.
Lena Waithe referred to Monica as the “GOAT” in the comments. Even actress Holly Robinson Peete was blown away by the singer’s look, writing, “Whewwww sis,” with three fire emojis.
“My auntie is that girl,” said Skai Jackson to the “Angel Is Mine” vocalist, who responded, “I love you, niece. You been lighting fires ya self, Pooh.”
Here’s what others had to say about Monica’s vintage Chanel look.
“You are too stunning for words.”
“Look like money.”
“Auntie aging backward.”
“Somebody’s fine ass mama!”
It’s hard not to notice how good the mother of three looked dressed in all-black. Fans began suggesting Monica could become the next Black “Catwoman.”
“@monicadenise For Catwoman 2022, please,” said one person. Another wrote, “I love when you come with the all-Black vibes.” One individual joked, “I’m calling Batman.”
A small handful mentioned Monica’s fan-created nickname, “Goonica.” The name was presumably given to the 41-year-old for her no-nonsense attitude and lyrics like, “Kick down ya door and smack ya chick.”
One individual wrote, “Look, Goonica, you ain’t have to snatch my edges like that.”
Of course, several individuals asked, “Where is the album?”
Monica has yet to share details on her long-awaited album, “Trenches,” which was scheduled to arrive in 2021. However, as previously reported, the R&B singer is working on a country album following her debut on Jimmie Allen’s single, “Pray,” with Little Big Town.
In August 2021, Monica expressed that she’s always loved country music since she was 14 years old following her debut album “Miss Thang.”
She told Billboard, “I grew up loving country music and my stepfather, who raised me, is a Methodist minister, but he also drove buses, and he would take us to Nashville, Gatlinburg and Dollywood in Tennessee. I became a really big fan of Dolly Parton at about 8 or 9 years old. That was my real introduction to country music.”
She continued, “Shortly after, it was Kenny Rogers. I started listening to the depth of the songs and the fact that they were unafraid to say whatever it was they felt. I felt like this was a great time for me to really step into an area that I’ve always admired and loved. We’re just getting started, but I have so enjoyed it and been welcomed with open arms.”
