Sherri Shepherd rejects age-based rules about her style and says she’s loving herself exactly as she is

Sherri Shepherd is pushing back on ageist criticism of her wardrobe, telling critics she loves her legs and has no plans to cover up at 59.
Sherri Shepherd has heard the commentary about what a woman her age should and shouldn’t wear, and she’s made it clear the feedback isn’t landing.
In an interview with HelloBeautiful published July 21, the 59-year-old talk show host addressed the age-based criticism that trails her bold, leg-baring wardrobe. As PEOPLE reported, Shepherd’s response to being told she shouldn’t be dressing a certain way was blunt, “Yes, I am, and yes, I will.” She went on to say she loves her legs and intends to keep showing them off, adding a flat “Yes, I don’t care” for anyone still hoping to change her mind.
The former “The View” co-host also touched on her rotating collection of wigs, framing them as an extension of her personality rather than an attempt to be someone she isn’t. She described the styling as an expression of adventure and a willingness to try new things.
That refusal to shrink is consistent with how Shepherd has talked about aging more broadly. PEOPLE noted that in August 2025, she posted a makeup-free video after a doctor suggested she consider a facelift and fillers.
Rather than take the recommendation, she used the moment to reframe what her face reflects, arguing that the world fails to honor the beauty that comes with age and a life fully lived. She catalogued the lines and changes as evidence of laughter, grief, worry and joy, before landing on a simple conclusion: she loves herself as she is.
Shepherd has been similarly candid about the physical realities that have accompanied the years, including her experience with perimenopause. Speaking on her talk show in 2025, she described a body that keeps surprising her, saying that each time she thinks she’s figured something out with her doctor, something new surfaces.
The through line across all of it is a woman who has stopped negotiating with outside expectations. Whether the subject is hemlines, hair or whether to alter her face, Shepherd’s position has stayed the same, and she seems entirely unbothered by who disagrees.
