In the Instagram post, a casually dressed Savannah adjusted the 17-year-old’s bowtie and collar as he prepped for his special day. Other photos included Bronny posing in what appears to be his car and taking pictures with his date as Zhuri stares directly into the camera.
Alongside the upload, Savannah expressed in the caption the emotional process she’s experienced watching her Bronny grow up to become a young man who makes her proud.
While mentioning the reason behind Zhuri’s look, she wrote, “Sooooo @bronny went to prom this past weekend….. Tons of emotions and realizations. Time really flies. So proud of you young man!! I will always have your front and your back!! Zhuri is processing all of this too!! (Last slide).”
As fans viewed the post, many couldn’t help but talk about Zhuri’s facial expression.
“She ain’t playing about her brother.”
“Zhuri has ALLL the emotions!”
“Zhuri with the “I’m about to become a meme” face”
“Zhuri wasn’t having it lol.”
In addition to the previous remarks, others brought up how upset they were that Bronny attended the event with a white girl. While an individual shared disappointment, a couple of social media users mentioned that they were confused by his date because of the example of black love that he grew up around.
One wrote, “I’m honestly disappointed that he’s not accompanied by a black queen.” Another said, while pointing out that parents need to stop sending their children to predominantly white schools, “How you grow up in a household of black love and date a white girl? They gotta stop sending they kids to predominately white schools.”
A third person posted, “His mama is a beautiful melanin woman, and he took that to prom, not quite understanding why LeBron didn’t correct his son.”
Neither Savannah nor LeBron James responded to the controversial online comments over their son’s prom date.
