Ray J Opens Up About Alleged Second Sex Tape with Kim Kardashian, Brandy Seemingly Responds
After more than a decade, Ray J is speaking up (again) about the infamous sex tape he made with Kim Kardashian. The former couple dated from 2002 to 2006, although the tape wasn’t released until 2007. In a shocking interview, the “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” star claimed that Kim and her mother, Kris Jenner, were both involved in the tape being leaked.
“I’ve never leaked anything,” he told the Daily Mail. “I have never leaked a sex tape in my life. It’s always been a deal and partnership between Kris Jenner and Kim and me since the beginning of this thing.”
The actor was enraged after reports about a second tape in recent episodes of Hulu’s new series, “The Kardashians.” In the April 28 episode, Kim sobbed uncontrollably in front of her family while opening a briefcase allegedly from her estranged husband, Kanye West. It allegedly contained a computer and hard drive containing the sex tape. The 41-year-old also mentioned that Ray used a sex toy on her. In an earlier episode, the 41-year-old claimed her then 5-year-old son, Saint, saw an ad for the tape in an online game.
Ray admitted to giving the laptop to Kanye at a private terminal at LAX, where they had a “father to father” moment. He said, “It wasn’t a sex tape…it was a lot of pictures, a lot of little mini videos and a lot of proof we’ve been talking over the years If you send me an email in 2008, the computer doesn’t change the date on it.”
He suggested that Kim always had their sex tape in her possession and claims he never obtained a copy, only photos and text messages with Kim from 2007-2009. To support his claims, he also shared recent purported text messages between himself and Kim, where he mentioned that releasing the tape was a part of a mutual agreement. In Kim’s response, she insisted the sex toy comment “was clearly a sarcastic joke,” and said giving the laptop to Kanye showed him “in a positive light.”
The 41-year-old admitted it was his idea to put out the tape, which was filmed in Cabo, Mexico, for Kim’s 21st birthday. He said Kim considered releasing it after seeing how Paris Hilton‘s career took off after her sex tape leak.
With Kim still hesitant, Ray said he went to Kim’s mother to help release it through the erotic film company, Vivid Entertainment. Both parties allegedly signed a contract to release two sex tapes and an additional video. To his knowledge, Ray said the tapes were held in a shoebox at Kim’s house.
“It was something we did in Cabo on a trip for her birthday and it was something extra we were doing in the hotel. She kept them all,” he explained. “She had to go find that tape and then present it. I never had a tape in my possession in our whole relationship. I never had a single one at my house. She had them at her house. She always had all the tapes in a Nike shoe box under her bed.”
The “One Wish” singer regrets participating in the tape’s release and being accused of releasing it, which created suicidal thoughts.
“I felt suicidal because when you know something’s real and it’s true and you’re watching a whole family create an empire from a lie they’ve created,” Ray shared. It’s heartbreaking and disrespectful to all the entertainers who have been honest and true to their craft.”
The father of two hopes speaking out will change the narrative about his part in the sex tape’s release and his stance towards women.
He added, “I just want my daughter and my son to appreciate what I’ve done here on earth and know that their dad doesn’t go for exploiting women, disrespecting women or leaking footage of someone who didn’t give permission.”
The singer’s sister has also seemingly responded and let it be known that she has her brother’s back. “@ me @rayj ‘s #sister he only needs one,” she wrote on Instagram.
