‘No One Can Replace You’: Keke Palmer’s ‘The Voice’ Shake-Up Forces Carson Daly to Set the Record Straight as Fans Threaten to Boycott
Fans of Keke Palmer are singing her praises after “Ms. Keke Keeps a Job” landed another gig on her résumé.
Palmer will showcase her signature charisma on a singing competition show, much like she did in Disney’s “Jump In” and “Joyful Noise.”
“The Voice” host Carson Daly has hosted his show for 30 seasons over 16 years.
For the first time, he’s taking a step back; Palmer is stepping up, and the shake-up has already divided viewers.
Most of Palmer’s friends are celebrating, but fans of the show are planning to boycott after hearing about the switch-up.
On Aug. 5, she shared the big news in a video to get viewers used to her voice in different tones. “This is the Voice,” she said in four tones: disappointed, happy, sarcastic, and then a flirty tone.
“That’s right! It’s true I am hosting ‘The Voice,’” she added.
The short clip was shared on NBC’s Instagram page with the caption, “Just because she’s here to host doesn’t mean she won’t serve. Keke Palmer hosts The Voice Season 31 coming in 2027 on NBC.”

However, the comments were much different under Daly’s Instagram page.
“Keke may be good, but she’s not you. It will never be the same without you,” said one skeptic. Another told Daly, “YOU are the best host. The OG. Won’t be the same without you.”
Following the backlash, he shared a photo of himself with the show’s original coaches, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green, who first joined the show in 2011.
Daly addressed fan confusion, noting that Palmer is the host of the “Celebrity Voice” spinoff. He made it clear he is “not the right host for it.”
Instead, he praised the new host, calling Palmer a “triple threat queen who is PERFECT for it.”
“I’m so grateful she carved out the time in her busy career to help us out,” Daly added before he assured fans he isn’t leaving “The Voice.”
“Nope,” he wrote, explaining he’ll continue hosting the original series while serving as an executive producer on the celebrity edition.
After hosting and producing the show for 30 seasons and 16 years, Daly said he’ll help launch the new format “from behind the scenes” while remaining at the helm of the original competition. He also teased that the upcoming season of the flagship series “may be our best season yet.”
Yet, some fans were still not interested in the host change.
“Bring back the original coaches: Christina, Ceelo, Blake and Adam, even for one special season,” said one person. Another critic added, “I’m so glad you clarified this. Love you as host of the show. No one can replace you.”
Joining Palmer are newcomer Joe Jonas and returning coaches Queen Latifah and Riley Green. The spinoff also adds a Voice Boot Camp, a VIP Room where contestants watch Blind Auditions together, and a Workroom where they rehearse and strategize for the Battles.
