Jay-Z surprises Paris audience with Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams
The Brooklyn rap titan continues his summer takeover with special guests across the globe.
Jay-Z brought some familiar names to share the stage during his Thursday night (Sept. 10) show in Paris. The veteran rapper surprised the audience with special appearances from Justin Timberlake and Pharrell Williams to perform their fan-favorite collaborations. In a clip shared on social media by Pop Base, the former NSYNC frontman joined the Brooklyn legend for a live rendition of “Holy Grail,” their collaboration on Jay’s 2013 album ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail.’
Jay-Z then remained on stage while the pop star performed his 2006 track “Until the End of Time” according to “In Music Blog.“
Before JT brought his essence to the Parisian crowd, the audience was first treated to a Pharrell pop-up. The blog reported that the Grammy-winning rapper and former member of The Neptunes performed a handful of their 2000s-era collaborations, including “Excuse Me Miss,” “I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me),” “Frontin’” and “Allure.”
The Paris show, which took place at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, was the final of three concerts the 56-year-old set for the European leg of his JAŸ-Z 30 Tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of “Reasonable Doubt” and the 25th anniversary of “The Blueprint.” Last week, the Hip-Hop mogul used his London concert to celebrate his wife Beyoncé’s 45th birthday. While she did not join him on stage, he paused the show to show Mrs. Carter on screen and invited the excited crowd to sing “Happy Birthday.”
The tour kicked off in July in Jay-Z’s hometown, with surprise on-stage moments from both Williams and Queen Bey, as well as Blue Ivy, Rihanna, Eminem, Nas, Alicia Keys, Jeezy, Clipse and more. JAŸ-Z 30 is scheduled to close this fall with two concerts in Inglewood, Calif. at SoFi Stadium on October 23 and 24.
