The heartthrobs of two generations have joined forces to bring a Black love story to life. Denzel Washington passed down some of his thespian wisdom to Michael B. Jordan, whom the former directed in the upcoming movie “A Journal for Jordan.”

Set for a Christmas Day release, the Washington-helmed romantic drama is based on a true story and follows a couple’s dedication to each other as the two withstand the tests of distance and war. Jordan stars as Sgt. Charles Monroe King, “a soldier deployed to Iraq who begins to keep a journal of love and advice for his infant son,” opposite “The Photograph” star Chanté Adams, who “revisits the story of her unlikely, life-altering relationship with King and his enduring devotion to her and their child.”

Jordan shared an emotional trailer from the film on his Instagram page along with a caption expressing gratitude for being able to work with one of his “idols,” writing, “It’s not often you get a chance to be directed by one of your idols, in Denzel Washington.”

Fans are completely onboard with seeing the talented stars join forces to tell a story of enduring Black love.

“Black love… Black family.. Black happiness .. Black sacrifice… We need to see more of black uplifting movies.. Am proud ”

“ man the trailer got me in tears I know this is going to be amazing ”

“Is Michael B Jordan the new Denzel, lol?”

The Academy Award-winning actor is no stranger to stepping behind the camera. His feature film directorial debut, “Antwon Fisher,” garnered positive reviews and he has since directed projects, including “The Great Debaters” and “Fences.”
