‘I’m Not a Rapper’: Reginae Carter Speaks on Stepping Out of Father Lil Wayne’s Shadow to Start Her Own Fitness Venture
Reginae Carter is not riding the coattails of her famous father, instead, she is blazing a trail of her own.
The 23-year-old grew up under the spotlight as the firstborn to parents rapper Lil Wayne and Toya Johnson. And while she is nice with her flow, which she has proved on social media, the reality TV personality is clear on one thing: ”I’m not a rapper.” Reginae has her sights set on building an empire by sharpening her acting skills, and she has even ventured into the entrepreneurship world.
Earlier this year, she introduced her fitness line IFitIn. The athleisure line takes women from the gym to running errands, all while remaining stylish. Reginae has a well-documented fitness transformation online, so delving into fitness apparel was somewhat a no-brainer.
“I’ve been working out for so many years, everybody already always talks about my body, so why not?” said the budding mogul when she spoke with The Shade Room in an Oct. 14 interview.
When she spoke about the inspiration behind the line, she told Hello Beautiful, “I feel like it’s such a crime to fit in nowadays, like everybody feels like they got to look a certain way to be noticed.”
She continued, “I wanted to bring a line where no, like, you know, we all fit in, we’re all beautiful. We all can look fine and look beautiful and fit in you know, and I fit in.”
But when it comes to passion, Reginae is going full throttle with getting her acting career off the ground. This year she filmed her first feature length film, “Boxed In.”
Fans of the former OMG Girlz member have applauded her acting chops on social, where she often posts clips re-enacting popular film and television scenes, as well as her take on trending social media challenges. The “Social Society” co-host is equally as confident in her skills, so much so that she put it into the ether that she wants to work with “Power” universe co-creator 50 Cent in the future.
“I want to have 50 Cent on there [Social Society] and I want to say, ’50, which show you want to put me on? I mean I got versatility. What you want? I could give you all types,’” she said in an interview this past April.
