The year 2021 was quite eventful for iconic television host Oprah Winfrey. That year saw an exclusive bombshell interview with Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. It also brought two recently revealed two knee operations that nearly left the media mogul immobile.

Oprah shared the update during her “The Life You Want” class, which focused on practicing gratitude. “I had knee surgery in August, and then I had another knee surgery in November,” the 68-year-old said after expressing that she resonated with a participant who shared that she was grateful for every organ and every limb.

“When I came home the first time, I literally could not lift my leg. I couldn’t lift my heel off of the bed, and I vowed if I was ever able to get up, walk around, and move again — that I would take advantage of movement, exercise, and of being able to be fully in my body,” the “Selma” star continued.

“As I was rehabilitating, I started hiking. Everyday, I tried to hike more and do more,” she added. “My appreciation for every organ and every limb has expanded exponentially. So, you mention that really brought that home to me.”

One of Oprah’s recent hiking excursions went viral after the actress misled her group, which consisted of Gayle King and Ava DuVernay, on the exact journey during a promised “five to seven minutes” trek.

“What is the term for being catfished, but on an event?” her social media director, Joseph Zambrano, said at the beginning of the video. “You know, I think people should be honest when they say, ‘Let’s go on a hike.’ [Winfrey] said it was five to seven minutes. It’s been five to seven miles.”

Best friend Gayle was spotted soaked before a gleeful Oprah appeared, confirming the 50-minute hike with only “five to seven minutes up this hill.” The clip ends with the star telling the group earlier in the day, “You have no more than, I promise, seven minutes of steady incline.”

Commentators were in tears, many of whom said they’d gladly walk with the media legend, including one user who wrote, “OMG I would hike anywhere with Oprah!! Oprah!!” Another person added, “Sir. When Oprah says hike you do not ask how far.”
