Obama’s Oval Office lacked the metal embellishments and instead adhered to more traditional interior design.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner recently strolled down memory lane during a taping of “Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness.”
“Nice job on the recreation. You even have the apples. It’s fantastic,” Obama said, taking a look around the set. Filming for the sketch with Larry David hadn’t begun yet when Obama flexed his comedic improvisation chops in the behind-the-scenes clip.
No one saw his wisecrack coming, but everyone knew Trump was the inspiration.
“Although, I do want to point out there’s no gold sign on the outside that says Oval Office. I can’t believe I didn’t think of that,” Obama said.

His dry sense of humor provoked several people on set and viewers online to laugh.
On YouTube, a fan ribbed Trump with, “No Gold? No Kings? That’s got to be GREAT!” Others were already bracing for Trump to have a public meltdown.
Those individuals commented, “Poor Donnie is probably having a conniption right about now. Obama – true President. Trump – Clown Show,” and “He’s definitely gonna post.”
A fifth commenter echoed sentiment shared by countless critics who despise Trump’s White House makeover. It read, “The signs are so the old man doesn’t get lost.”
Robust speculation about the president’s health includes theories that he’s showing signs of dementia.
His forgetfulness during speeches and napping during meetings are among the most pressing observations about his change in behavior since his first term.
The Democrat joked that Trump would strip the residence of decorum during the 2011 White House Correspondents’ Dinner. “Say what you will about Mr. Trump, he certainly would bring some change to the White House,” began Obama.
He then directed the guests’ attention to a screen displaying the White House as a casino with Trump’s name in bright lights. The political nemesis was not humored.
Obama then rebuked Trump’s focus on “critical issues like paving over the Rose Garden… and gold plating the Oval Office” during a 2025 rally for then-Virginia gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger.
A MAGA supporter contended, “That wall paper is old and tacky. Yuk! Before President Trump the Oval Office was boring. Gold has put the Oval Office back in the #1 Billboard slot.”
However, a detractor still argued that Trump’s over-the-top decoration was a means of compensating for his lackluster leadership.
“When you’re absolutely worthless and you know it and you know everyone else knows it I guess you resort to surrounding yourself with shiny gold colored objects,” they wrote.
Typically, Trump is the one taking jabs at Obama, making the Oval Office comment that much more welcome among non-MAGA supporters.
The obsession with Obama is evident to the public and the former president. Even he had to admit, “I obviously have a room in his head… a suite in his head,” on the “All the Smoke” podcast.
He later reappeared on the show, noting that Trump never has to gall to smack talk him face to face.
