Diddy Was Prepared to ‘Snuff’ Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith for Making Move on Jennifer Lopez While They Were Dating, Bad Boy Founder’s Former Bodyguard Claims
More people are jumping on the Jada and Will Smith publicity bandwagon as Diddy’s former bodyguard says she and Will Smith tried to steal Jennifer Lopez from the rap mogul.
Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jennifer “J. Lo” Lopez were an item right before the turn of the millennium. They met on the music video set of J. Lo’s song “If You Had My Love” and started dating soon thereafter. In December 1999, the duo was arrested together after running from a shooting that took place in a New York nightclub.

J. Lo’s charges were dropped after her release, but Diddy was hit with bribery and gun possession charges. He was later acquitted, and the pair continued to be seen together at award shows in 2000. They broke up in February 2001, and the “In Living Color” dancer alluded to Diddy being unfaithful during their relationship.
During their two-year stint as a couple, Diddy allegedly had to fight off some potential suitors. According to his former bodyguard, two of those suitors were Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith. Gene Deal claims that he joined his former boss Diddy at a birthday party actor Matt Damon threw for Ben Affleck when the incident occurred.
Deal described it as a “little get-together at the Four Seasons” with a few Hollywood A-listers. He said Diddy and J. Lo were sitting next to the Smiths, when he stood up and motioned for him to come.
“I know Puff so well that when he stood up, he walked and did his arm a certain kind of way and then I went over there towards him,” said Deal.
He said once he got to Diddy, he allegedly told him, “I think Will and Jada is tryna scoop up Jennifer.”
“He thought that Jada and Will was coming on too strong to Jennifer, making advances,” Deal explained.
He was then advised by the Love Records CEO to stay close because he “wanted to snuff” Smith. Laughing now, Deal said at the time he thought that Smith would “beat the s—t” out of Diddy.
Deal admitted the 5-foot-10 Bad Boy Records founder can throw hands, but he didn’t think he could match up with the 6-foot-2 “Fresh Prince” actor. Deal said that when he reentered the party, he stayed just far enough away from Diddy, just in case he did swing on Smith, the actor could get a few hits in before he had to stop the fight.
Some fans laughed at the story, saying that they didn’t know who would win in the fight. One commenter said, “I don’t know who’d win between Will Smith and Diddy. Diddy slapped Drake, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock & that reporter, Diddy got slapped by J.Cole, its anyone’s game.”

Other fans just felt like this was just more unwanted news about the Smith family that they were forced to hear. One fan said, “Dude, how much is the Smith family paying for this publicity? They’ve literally not talked about one present thing they are working on,” while another said, “Everything Ik about these people is against my will.”
While Diddy had a right to be angry at someone coming on to his girl, he had the wrong culprit. He should have kept close tabs on Affleck, who started dating Lopez the same year he and his ex broke up.
In J. Lo’s case, it seems as if she made the right choice, as she and Affleck have had a close relationship for the past 20-plus years. Affleck and J. Lo got engaged in the early 2000s but they broke it off soon thereafter. They rekindled their romance in 2021 after years of friendship, and in 2022 they tied the knot.
