‘Damn Didn’t She Just Have This Baby’: Teyana Taylor Shocks Fans By Revealing Her Daughter Rue Is Walking at 11 Months
Teyana Taylor excitedly displayed her 11-month-old daughter Rue Rose Shumpert walking on Aug. 15 by uploading a clip on her Instagram page, leaving many stunned. What shocked Taylor’s fans was how quickly Shumpert learned to walk, with many facetiously claiming the singer just gave birth to her. Taylor and her husband, NBA free agent guard Iman Shumpert, welcomed Rue last September.
In the initial post, Taylor revealed that Rue has “always been ahead of her time,” as the infant is seen in the first half of the video walking quickly before falling. “LOOK WHOS ALREADY WALKINGGGGGGG OMGFAGGGGGGGGG excuse me y’all I was so hype I ain’t know what to do with myself! She’s always been ahead of her time! She’s been tryna walk for a min now!!!And I was fresh from the airport. I went from Aaliyah to Kirk Franklin ! I missed my babies so much!!! @babyruerose@babyjunie4.”
In the video’s second half, the 11-month-old is encouraged by her mom to get back up and try again while singing Aaliyah’s hit 2000 single “Try Again.” Towards the end, Shumpert, alongside her big sister Iman “Junie” Shumpert, 5, and Taylor are seen dancing and celebrating the infant’s latest accomplishment.
The age at which a baby takes its first steps varies, as some infants develop faster than others. The crawling stage can begin anywhere from 6 to as late as 13 months. By the time they reach 9 through 12 months, most babies will have the power to pull themselves up. Although sustained walking can begin anywhere from 8 months to 18 months, fans thought Rue was ahead of the curve. As the recording became viral, a handful of people kept mentioning how quickly time had passed since she was born.
“Damn didn’t she just have that baby.”
“Celebrity babies different! This baby was just born.“
“Damn already rich people kids grow up fast asf because they ain’t got shit to worry about .”
“She was born like yesterday omg.”
“Omg It Felt Like She Just Had Her..They Really Do Grow 5-7 Business Days .”
Taylor announced she was expecting her second daughter as she released the music video for her single “Wake Up Love” in June 2020. On Sept. 6 the singer and her husband confirmed the news Taylor gave birth on the day after her baby shower.
The NBA star wrote on his respective Instagram account, “At 3:28 am on Sept 6th 2020 Rue Rose decided that the baby shower thrown for her and mommy was too lit. She didn’t make the party but she managed to make the next day her birthdate!!!” The former New York Knicks shooting guard also confirmed the singer gave birth in their bathroom as he gushed over his little girl: “Our newest edition entered the world in the water and came out looking around and ready to explore! A healthy child. A little sister. Another daughter. Black love wins….again. Welcome babygirl…we love you! @babyruerose”
