Leslie Jones States that Men ‘Are Broken,’ Referring to Her Dating Life: ‘You Might as Well Be Asking About My Corns’
The always-candid Leslie Jones recently made an appearance on “The Wendy Williams Show,” and while promoting “Coming 2 America” she managed to slip in some details about her dating life.
Williams broached the question of whether Jones has an active dating life, to which the frank comedian was dismissive of her experiences using the dating app Hinge, whose slogan is that it is an app designed to be “erased” due to its remarkable accuracy at matching up users.
“You might as well be asking about my corns,” Jones remarked. “My corns are doing better than the men in my life. You know I got on that Hinge thing? That little new [app] — that says ‘You gotta erase us,’” Jones said. However, she indicated against its effectiveness, saying wryly, “I think I have to erase Hinge for a whole different reason.”
“The men are broken,” she told Williams. Calling out the men in the audience, she said, “You know y’all always talk about how women are crazy — y’all need to go talk to somebody too. OK? We not all crazy, y’all just broken.”
Jones also revealed that she had an additional issue with Hinge — her celebrity status almost got her account shut down by mistake.
“What happened was,” she said to the talk show host, “You know — I’m Leslie Jones. So they were like ‘Why’s Leslie Jones on a dating app? It must be a fake account.’ So they thought it was a fake account — somebody probably reported me as a fake account,” she explained. Concerning how she got the problem resolved with the app, the comedienne shared, “I went back on Twitter and was like ‘Umm, excuse me, Hinge — it’s me. Why can’t I find no love, Hinge? No love, Hinge?!’”
Despite dating’s potential for disappointments, that has not appeared to slow the star down as she has expressed to various media outlets her history as an enthusiastic yet disgruntled dater.
Jones was more of the displeased variety on a 2017 episode of “The Wendy Williams Show,” where she previously received the same question.
“I should have a man huh?” She asked. “It’s like the more successful I get the more single I am. Men try to act like they like women like me but they don’t. They don’t like strong women.’”
Back in June of 2017, fans were intrigued when Jones indicated that she had a special secret someone tucked away during an appearance on “Conan.”
“It’s a secret, so I don’t want everybody bothering him, you know what I’m saying?” she asked Conan O’Brien. “I don’t want to sit on television and be like, ‘Oh, the type of man I’m looking for …’ and then I’ll talk to him and he’ll be like, ‘Yeah, I heard you was looking for this type of dude.’ Don’t get me in trouble!”
However, the next month the actor took to Twitter to set the record straight, reiterating her “terrible luck” with men.
“Just so everyone knows. There was never a secret boyfriend. I have terrible luck with men. Real talk. They do not like me lol!!”
