‘You be Trying to Walk This Way’: Ciara Hits back, Says She Was Misquoted Following Recent Interview About Life After Public Breakup with Future
Singer Ciara responded to sites that have misconstrued her words during a recent Women’s Health Magazine interview.
In the “1 2 Step” singer’s exclusive interview, she mentioned focusing on herself and nourishing “her mind, body and spirit” — following her public break-up with popular rapper, Future, — happened to be the “best thing” she could have ever done for her life.

She told Women’s Health, “I can’t love anybody to the best of my ability if I’m not loving on myself. I can’t be the best mom if I’m not loving on myself. So I put more focus on me, taking care of me; it was the best thing I could have done.”
Naturally, outlets built headlines based around her and the “Mask Off” rapper’s name, while Ciara never outed those outlets, she did make a general message on her Instagram story aimed at false narratives that were created from the interview.
“You be trynna walk this way [pointing right emoji] But sometimes social media be trying to have you walk that way [pointing left emoji] Nothing worse that being misquoted. But that’s life… Click bait I tell ya… [shrug shoulder emoji]”
In another post she wrote, “Walk that way with me please [pointing right emojis] [blush emojis] [praying hand emojis]”
Ciara has been in the industry since 2004, after the release of her debut album, “Goodies.” The Grammy Award-winning artist is no stranger from headlines that are meant to stir up conversation.
In 2014, Ciara fired back at US Weekly Magazine on Twitter, claiming the magazine published a false story based on an alleged interview she did discussing her former fiancé.
“I did not do this interview with you! This is a lie, and tasteless! Must you be that thirsty to create a story?! Unbelievable!” she wrote.
