Halle Berry has been busy on social media lately, addressing the rumors and speculation that have grown out of comments from social media users. The Oscar Award-winning actor has been frank and honest with her answers, and her response to a recent comment is no exception.

Berry made an Instagram post on Feb. 6 that was a simple picture with a solid background graced with the words, “Women don’t owe you s–t.”

In her comments, users contemplated the identity of the individual whom Berry’s words were directed to, including one commenter who alluded to the recipient being Berry’s ex Gabriel Aubry, whom she purportedly pays $16,000 a month in child support for their daughter, 12-year-old Nahla.

The user replied to the post with the comment, “Halle Berry owes alimony and child support to that c—–r that called her the N-word though.”

In the comments, users began attempting to connect the dots, all wondering whether maybe Berry was shading Aubry, whom the actress dated from 2002 to 2010.

Berry actually saw eye to eye with the user, answering, “And it takes great strength eryday to pay it. And BTW it’s wrong and extortion!”

Another commenter asked, “Do you believe that men paying alimony and child support is wrong? And is it extortion?”

Berry wrote a lengthy message in which she spoke out about the laws concerning child support, and how parents are forced to pay amounts that are more than what the child needs to live comfortably. She said that while she believed parents have an obligation to financially care for their children, she thought the way the laws are currently handled is wrong.

“I’m not going to speak on alimony as I have never asked for it nor have I ever paid it,” Berry said. “However, as for child support, I feel I can speak on it as I’ve been paying it for a decade now. I feel if a woman or man is having to pay support that is way more than the reasonable needs to help SUPPORT the child, I think that is wrong! I understand some parents (man or woman) may need help, but I also feel that in these modern times both men and women have the responsibility to financially take care of their children, work hard, and make every effort to do so.”

She continued, “The way many laws are set up, people are allowed to USE children in order to be awarded money to live a lifestyle that not only they did not earn, but that is way above and beyond the child’s reasonable needs, and that is ‘THE WRONG’ and where I see abuse. The laws are outdated and no longer reflect the modern world. This is just my opinion. I clearly don’t own the truth. I can say I’m living it every day, and I can tell you it’s hard. I do totally understand the feelings of those men who feel they are and have been taken advantage of by the system.”

Berry’s followers were taken in by her words, and showered her with support plus praised her for opening up. “Say that again for the people in the front, back and middle,” said one user. Another wrote, “Everybody are different and @halleberry you don’t owe anyone an explanation of why you are single! Most of us are…by choice! You are a Queen…keep doing you!” Additionally, another commenter said, “It’s amazing how because you are an Oscar winner, stunningly beautiful, nice, a real black Woman of Excellence that someone always tries to take shots at you. Glad you fired back Queen. Your real fans/fam love you Sis.”

Berry answered the compliments with a grateful comment, noting that while she doesn’t feel it is necessary for her to clarify her thoughts, she thought it important to voice her opinion on this matter.

“Thank you for the love,” she answered. “I appreciate you. I don’t feel like I’m explaining nor do I feel the need. This is an issue that affects so many families and I feel it’s a topic worthy of our discussion!❤

Berry previously ran into another user under the post that got quite catty with her, writing in response to her statement, “Says the woman who can’t keep a man.”

In reply, the star said, “Who says I wanna keep the wrong man? Cuz…I don’t.”
