Ice Cube Reveals He Will Meet With President Biden About His ‘Contract with Black America’
Ice Cube recently suggested he is finally getting up close and personal with President Joe Biden to share his proposal to create Black prosperity in America.
Cube claimed last week that the Biden administration contacted him for a meeting about his “Contract With Black America,” which he has proffered to both Democratic and Republican parties.
Cube revealed the news on Ryan Cameron’s “Majic ATL” radio show on Feb. 3, where he said that the Biden administration kept its promise to collaborate with Cube after the election. Cameron asked, “Has the Biden administration reached out to you?” and the rapper responded, “Yesterday they reached out to me.”
Although he cautioned that everything is still in the preliminary stages and any date for a meeting hasn’t been set, he said, “I believe it’ll go down sometime this month. I’m going to make myself available. Whenever they’re ready I’m in. I’m hoping everything will be positive.”
Cube also said he wants to bring in some of his own experts and specialists for a face-to-face meeting, should the sit-down be an in-person encounter.
When Cameron questioned Cube about his current affairs and whether he might run for office someday, the rapper clarified that his sole concern was helping out the community in any way he could.
“I’m singularly focused,” he said. “I’m only worried about our community at this point, as far as politically and trying to get ahead. I have to focus on our community because we so far behind in this society and there’s so many obstacles put up against us.”
Cube’s Contract is a project that he says he created with the help of several experts. The thrust of the document is to get lawmakers to invest in the Black community with reparations, police and banking reform, and other federal projects that can enrich Black American society.
Cube faced backlash last fall for reportedly consorting with the Trump campaign about the Contract, an association that led to the campaign’s own “Platinum Plan,” which was their bullet-point set of promises to purportedly contend with issues in the Black community.
After Cube seemingly endorsed the Platinum Plan, he eventually put out a tweet to calm down the outrage that he had gone to the “dark side” in associating with Trump, saying he was essentially conversing with both parties, and Trump’s was the one that reached out.
“Facts: I put out the CWBA. Both parties contacted me. Dems said we’ll address the CWBA after the election. Trump campaign made some adjustments to their plan after talking to us about the CWBA.”
Cameron inquired about people who though Cube’s association Trump was his way of giving him a seal of approval. “Of course people was going to say that, but anybody who would have took a minute or half a second to hear my response would know that ain’t true,” he said.
“People … you know they was passionate. They was passionate about who they wanted to win. I know that at the end of the day, whether a Democrat or a Republican is in the White House, they’re still not looking at our agenda in the right way.”
In Cube’s eyes the political party doesn’t matter, because both sides are lacking in desire to help the Black population. “So it really don’t matter,” he remarked. “We still gotta get them to acknowledge and remedy the situation. So right now, they like to acknowledge, but nobody wants to do what it takes to remedy the situation. So that’s the part that we need to get on these politicians about.”
Cube ended the interview with a message for all the people that clowned and condemned him for his actions concerning the Contract.
“I just want to talk to my Black folks out there. If you don’t understand what I’m doing, just kick back for a minute. Don’t trip. I’m always doing things to help us as a people. Me, I’m straight. I could go sit down and not do nothing but you know we choose to put it out there. Sometimes you may not understand what I’m doing or the moves I’m making, but when it come to me I always keep it 1000. So just know that about me.”
Even so, there were quite a few people on social media who still had to vocalize their disagreement with Cube.
One user was skeptical, writing, “Politicians have to humor celebrities. But there are already plenty of black people at Biden’s table who are learned on the issues. I am interested in seeing action, and NOT which celebrity is invited where.”
Another poster shared, “If anyone in the Biden administration takes a meeting w/ @icecube about that contract, they will be sending a clear message about how little the think of black people. There are better informed people to meet. Don’t insult us w/ rappers, entertainers, or Van Jones. We have better.”
