‘Blissful Bubble of Ignorance’: Ne-Yo Says He’d Rather Be Blindly Happy Than to Know Hear Wife Crystal Renay Has Been Unfaithful
When it comes to love, the less Ne-Yo knows, the more easily he can live happily.
The “Year of the Gentleman” crooner sings about the highs and lows of love on his chart-topping records, but in real life he has a firm boundary on how much heartbreaking information he wants to know. Specifically as it pertains to fidelity, Ne-Yo said he would rather remain happily unaware than to be unnecessarily tormented by knowing too much.
“Listen, if I wake up every morning the breakfast is cooked, my kids is taken care of, every time we around each other we smiling and happy and things are blissful, and on my death bed somebody tell me you was cheating on me my whole life — I lived a pretty good damn life,” said the singer while discussing the matter with the hosts of “The Breakfast Club.”
The singer would preferably not have his relationship challenged by infidelity, but at the end of the day he said, “I’m not going to trip off that.” The “So Sick” singer and his wife, Crystal Renay, have been married since 2016. At the onset of the pandemic the singer filed for divorce. But with the world at a seemingly standstill, Ne-Yo and Crystal ultimately found a way to work through their challenges.
This past April, the couple went all out in celebrating their love by renewing their vows. “I personally am a person that is not angry at living in a blissful bubble of ignorance. The truth is rarely pretty,” he further explained of his stance. “In this world, in this life you have to choose your happy. So I choose to believe the truth that makes me happy as oppose to searching for the ugly truth that’s going to mess up my happy,” he added.
Proving just how adamant he is in maintaining his “happy,” Ne-Yo said that even his friends know not to bring him any bad news. “I had to tell my friends, ‘Yo, if you ever found out anything about my wife, don’t bring me that.’ For real. Why would you mess with my happy? Why would you do that? Who wants to know that?” he said.
His hot take was met with a wide range of reactions from fans. “The people that say they don’t want to know are most likely the ones that have already cheated lol,” wrote one person.
“Nah f—k that!!! Let me know!!!! I’ll deal with the hurt and pain for a moment as I move on…pain do’t last forever…and the sun shines brighter later,” commented a second person.
A third wrote, “Ignorance can be dangerous and expensive.”
