Pastor John Gray Hospitalized with Pulmonary Embolism and Blood Clots, Wife Aventer Gray Calls for Prayers and a Miracle
Pastor John Gray has been hospitalized after being diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism. The news of his critical condition was revealed by his wife, Aventer Gray, on social media.
“My family and I stand in need of a miracle,” wrote Aventer in the post on July 10. She went to ask that her husband be lifted in prayer before detailing the events leading up to his hospitalization.
According to Aventer, John had not been feeling like himself for weeks. On July 7 he went to the emergency room and was immediately admitted to the critical care unit. His full diagnosis was a saddle pulmonary embolism in the pulmonary artery and blood clots in his lungs, wrote his wife. Aventer said the slightest shift of the embolism could result in death.
“The clot burden is severe and only God is holding it in place,” added Aventer. The mother of two then shared John would require two surgeries in an effort to treat the issues. “To place this in perspective, the doctor said that people have come into the hospital dead with this exact scenario he walked in with,” wrote Aventer.
She continued, “God isn’t done! I don’t care what CT, ECHO, All or any of the tests show! It’s clear God isn’t finished. Clots have to bow to my God! That’s all!”
A saddle pulmonary embolism is described as a blockage situated where the right and left lungs convene. If left untreated it can lead to organ damage, decreased blood supply to the body, and death.
John grew in notoriety while serving as an associate pastor at the Texas megachurch Lakewood. He now serves as the pastor of Relentless Church in Atlanta, Georgia, and Greenville, South Carolina. The family previously appeared on television for a short-lived reality show, “The Book of John Gray.” In the past, John has been embattled with tales of infidelity. However, despite their marital hiccups the couple has managed to remain united.
