Tiny Harris Reveals Biggie Smalls Apologized to Xscape for ‘Ugly’ Lyrics Shortly Before His Death
Biggie Smalls’s most famous feud might’ve been with California rapper 2Pac, but the Brooklyn native also found himself clashing with a popular girl group back in the day.
In his 1994 record “Dreams,” the rapper took a jab at the ladies of Xscape when he rapped the lyrics, “I’ll f–k RuPaul before I f–k them ugly-ass Xscape b-tches.”
While the group, which included Tameka “Tiny” Harris, Kandi Burruss, and sisters Tamika and LaTocha Scott, didn’t respond, they ultimately avoided crossing paths with the rapper altogether.
During an interview with VLAD TV, which was published on YouTube on Sunday, Nov. 15, the singer revealed that Biggie had eventually apologized for his lyrics after they all found themselves at the same party hosted by Vibe in May 1997 in Los Angeles, California.
In the past, Tiny had admitted that when the song was released, the ladies felt offended and didn’t want to deal with the “Big Poppa” rapper. The group would even decline the rapper’s efforts to attend their concerts in show of support.
“There was a couple of times after the ‘Dreams’ song that we had a couple of shows, and Jermaine would be like, ‘Yo Biggie wants to see y’all. He wants to talk to y’all.’ And, you know, some of the girls were like, ‘no,’ ” Tiny explained.
Biggie made another attempt to speak to the ladies during the Vibe event, but some of the members were reluctant to hear him out. Tiny said, “I just remember us not wanting to deal with him. Not wanting to talk to him. And then, at the Vibe party, he was there, and someone came to us and said Biggie wanted to speak to us.” She added, “Kandi was like, ‘I’m not going over there. I don’t wanna talk to him.’ So I was just like, ‘I’ll go over there.’ So I went.” Tiny eventually went over to the rapper to hear what he had to say.
“He basically apologized for saying that, that he thought we were beautiful,” Tiny said. She added, “He was like, ‘I’m an ugly mother–ker and I ain’t had no b-tches talking about nobody,’ you know. We laughed, and we hugged or whatever, and it was all good. And then, you know…”
The “Juicy” rapper would ultimately be shot and killed as he was leaving the party that night. Later on, Tiny revealed that Kandi regretted not going with her to hear Biggie out.
