‘Sad to Say’: Jay-Z Says No One Can See Him, In a ‘Verzuz’ But Fans Have at Least One Person In Mind
Jay-Z is not humbling down his success and talent as an artist, and when it comes to “Verzuz” the New Yorker recently let it be known that no one stands a chance against him.
The multi-Grammy-award-winning rapper was asked about doing a Verzuz in a Spaces chatroom that was meant to discuss Alicia Keys’ new album “Keys,” and he gave an answer that many, especially his fans would agree with.

He said, “No one can stand on that stage with me. It’s not a chance in hell that anyone can stand on that stage with me. You got to stand in front of the ‘Grammy Family Freestyle’ live? No one has ever even seen me perform that, you got to stand in front of that? That ain’t never going to happen.”
“Let’s move on from ‘Verzuz’ and get back to Ms. Keys’ album,” he said, before ending his response about the live rap show. “Verzuz” started off as a platform on IG Live for hip-hop and R&B fans to enjoy since the pandemic kept millions of people indoors and several concerts were canceled. The format brings two artists or groups together at a time to perform 20 of their best hits.
There is no real winner or loser of the show despite fans always discussing who they thought had a better set. However, Verzuz has done more than bring fans a virtual concert but it also helped artists like Gucci Mane and Jeezy quash their years-long beef. So many legendary artists have already performed on Verzuz, which is why of course many have hoped Jay-Z and even his wife Beyoncé would come on.
His response to the Verzuz question drew a lot of responses from fans and listeners on Twitter. One, like several others, agreed with Jay-Z, saying “Jay-Z said that no one can stand on the verzuz stage with him and he DID NOT LIE.”
Others disagreed and challenged his statement by mentioning other artists they believe could beat the father of three in a Verzuz. “Jay Z should stop capping tho because we all know he’s not touching Lil Wayne in a versuz hits for hits, lil Wayne will wash him clean,” wrote one fan.
Another person who thinks Lil Wayne would be a good person to go against Jay-Z said, “Y’all realize how long Lil Wayne music catalog is with hits? Like sit back and actually think about it. Do you really think Jay Z has enough hits for Lil Wayne? If you’re thinking correctly it’s not even close Jay Z gon get left behind after the first wave of songs he can’t last.”
Someone else went into more detail about why other artists could go head to head with him. “Lyrically, Bun and Em have him. They separately proved that on Big Pimping and Renegade. On the hits and lyricism level, Wayne and T.I.P can give a good, nah great, run for the money. Sad to say, but Kanye on hits . Benjamin on the both. Just his verses! IJS.”
Some even mentioned that Busta Rhymes, his arch-nemesis Nas, and even Beyoncé, would all be able to go against the billionaire tycoon.
