Beyonce Alowishus from The Rickey Smiley Morning Show sat down with Chelsea Gordon to highlight the incredible work she’s doing with The Mothr Foundation. As moms themselves, they connected over the challenges of motherhood and the importance of a strong support system. Beyonce, who has children ages five and seven, and Chelsea, a mother to a two-year-old and a six-month-old, both understand firsthand how overwhelming parenting can be. This realization led Chelsea to create The Mothr Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to helping mothers in need by providing essential supplies and resources.

Chelsea explained that The Mothr Foundation operates with the belief that when a mother is supported and cared for, she can be the best version of herself for her children. To make this mission a reality, she funds a storage unit filled with diapers, wipes, car seats, strollers, cribs, and other essentials. While she initially covered these costs out of pocket, a generous donor recently helped establish a diaper bank. Now, the foundation can provide direct assistance to moms struggling to afford basic necessities, ensuring they have what they need to care for their children.

Beyonce emphasized how expensive these necessities can be, pointing out that formula alone is a major financial burden for many families. Chelsea added that one in three families struggles to afford diapers, and shockingly, diapers aren’t covered under food stamps or the WIC program. The Mothr Foundation steps in to bridge this gap, offering support where financial assistance falls short. With daycare costs soaring—often reaching $200 per child per week—the financial strain on mothers is immense. The foundation creates a community where moms can help each other navigate these challenges.

Understanding that it truly takes a village, The Mothr Foundation encourages people to get involved by donating money, supplies, or time. Chelsea shared that the nonprofit is a 501(c)(3) organization, allowing donors to contribute one-time or on a recurring basis while also receiving tax benefits. The foundation is also looking for corporate sponsorships and community support to expand its reach and help even more mothers in need.

A special shoutout went to the Miles for Moms initiative, where a dedicated group of women, including Melissa McGee, Shawnee Johnson, Q, and Hillary Scott, are running a 13-mile marathon to raise funds for The Mothr Foundation. Beyonce expressed admiration for their commitment, joking that she’d be lucky to run even two miles. Their efforts highlight the importance of rallying around mothers who need extra support.

For those looking to contribute, Chelsea encouraged people to follow The Mothr Foundation on Instagram (@mothrfoundation) and get involved. Volunteers, corporate partners, and donations are always welcome. Beyonce wrapped up by sharing her own Instagram handle (@BeyonceATL) and thanking Chelsea for her incredible work. Together, they reinforced the message that when moms support each other, the entire community thrives.
